The winner of the first player of the month comes to us from Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, New York. Dante Hatem seemed to be the clear winner for the month of December after he was nominated by his mother, Cristina Hatem, who wrote about her sons accolades both on and off the court.

On the court, Cristina Hatem wrote that Dante has been playing basketball his entire life. Starting at a young age, Dante has worked on his game to the point where he has been part of the Syracuse Select Top 100 Showcase. Over the summer, Dante woke up daily at 5:30a.m. to work on his game as well as strength training, speed, and agility. He also spends time on the court coaching younger players from the CBA program to help them get a jump start on their playing careers.

What really made Dante stand out from the rest were his accomplishments off the court. According to his mother, Danteis currently taking all the appropriate classes to pursue a career in the field of sport medicine or physical therapy, including Anatomy and Physiology and Human Biology. When he was busy not in school, playing or coaching basketball, Dante participated in the Central New York Area Health Education Center’s MASH (Medical Academy of Science and Health) Camp, Senior MASH Camp, and the Physical Therapy Workshop at Utica College.

Dante truly embodies the characteristics we look for in the Player of the Month. Dante will find a spot playing basketball at the college level, but we would like to wish him luck pursuing his dreams after his playing days are over. Until then, Dante Hatem will be a name to look for this coming basketball season out of CBA Syracuse.
